These systems must earn high scores in the IIHS’s testing, too. Finally, a vehicle’s headlights must be top-notch.

In the case of the 2022 Trailblazer, the SUV earned “good” in the crash tests, a “superior” rating for its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, and an “advanced” score for its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash pedestrian system. The small SUV’s headlights were rated as “good” and “acceptable” depending on the trim level chosen.

Under the hood

The Trax is limited to a single powertrain: a 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that serves up 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. Interior space

The Chevrolet Trailblazer and Trax both comfortably seat up to five passengers, but the Trailblazer offers a little more room for gear. The Trailblazer has 25.3 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the second row and 54.4 cubic feet with the second row folded; the Trax has 18.7 cubic feet behind the second row and 48.4 cubic feet with the second row folded.
