Summer is the perfect time of year to head out on a family road trip. Before you hit the road, you should make sure your vehicle is road-trip-ready. Here are a few maintenance items to check before you leave.
- Oil change. While the industry standard has long been every three months or 3,000 miles, you should check your vehicle’s owner’s manual of the exact recommended schedule. If you will hit your oil change interval while on your trip, you should get the oil changed early.
- Tire checks. Your tires are going to do a lot of work on your road trip. Make sure they are in good condition before you go. Check the tire pressure in each tire and get them rotated if you are close to the recommended interval.
- Air filters. Your car has two important air filters: the cabin air filter and the engine air filter. As you would expect, the cabin air filter cleans the air flowering into your cabin and the engine air filter helps clean the air that flows into your engine. Check both filters to see if they need to be replaced.
- Air conditioning. A long summer road trip without air conditioning would be awful. Make sure your AC system is fully charged and ready to keep you cool.
